Connecticut’s Health Benefit Exchange Decision
Governor Dan Malloy announced that the state would operate the Connecticut health insurance exchange. An exchange board will oversee operations of the exchange. Connecticut has received conditional approval to operate their exchange. The Department of Health and Human Services will grant final approval once the state demonstrates the ability to operate according to requirements outlined in provisions of the Affordable Care Act.

Website enrollment resources can be found here: http://www.ct.gov/hix/site/default.asp. Connecticut residents can purchase qualified health plans in October of 2013 to obtain coverage in 2014 to avoid individual penalties.
The Connecticut health insurance exchange provides resources to navigate the marketplace. The exchange is currently training resources to educate their residents on available insurance products, rates, and premium tax credits. Qualifying health plans will contain ten essential health benefits. The state recently announced it is in good shape to be ready for enrollment in October.
